The Atalaya New Course is suitable for all levels of golfers and remains one of the most popular on the Costa del Sol. Facing inwards towards the mountains, higher parts are exposed to wind so thoughtful irons off the tee are must.
With gently undulating fairways and large, fast greens. It would be fair to say that this golf course, in general, hazards are obvious but still manage to trap the unwary. Care is needed off the tees and the wild hitter will soon encounter difficulties.
Five par threes, five par five’s and eight par fours (five of which are under 300 yards) so it is considerably shorter than the Old. Two of the par three holes on the scorecard (4 and 12) are highly rated. The 161-yard 4th plays across a pond to a little, raised green and the 183-yard 12th is the first of two consecutive short holes that cleverly route the course onto lower terrain.
