What a magical land for golf, Spain has become such an amazing golf destination and it is remarkable how it has continued to expand over the last years. By the mid-1990s, everyone thought of just one destination and that was the of course the Costa del Sol however there are so many more options in other parts of Spain.

Whether you enjoy the Catalan style in the regions of Costa Brava region with unspoiled  rugged coastlines and sandy cove beaches or the rocky rugged arid regions of Almeria or Murcia, further south where there are some cracking palm tree or desert style golf courses. Plus of course the remarkable new Nicklaus Golf Trail which is getting bigger by the month.

Whether you prefer the Costa Blanca to the Costa del Sol, comparing Benidorm to Marbella is impossible of course, but Costa Blanca has some beautiful white sand beaches, far superior to the Costa del Sol. Whilst the Costa Del Sol has the remarkable La Cala a 54 hole complex and the superb Almenara complex at Sotogrande including the classy La Reserva , complimented by some little gem boutique golf hotels at Finca Cortesin and Los Flamingos .

Finally, if you are seeking the real Spain and the very heart of Andalucia pop down to Alcaidesa Links, which is back to its very best. Travel that extra 90 minutes by plane down to the Canaries, which may be more expensive year round, but guarantee a wonderful year round temperature of no less than 23 degrees and choose between Tenerife or Gran Canaria.
